In the midst of exam revision, deadlines and the general monotony that are the few months before summer, there seems to be very little that excites me. But, my makeup bag has seen a few welcome additions in these past months. Some items were replacements and some were a few cheeky new additions. One was this little bar of heaven which is literally Spring goals in an eyeshadow palette. The Tartlette in Bloom palette, by Tarte, has been making rounds in the beauty world for some time now and I thought it would be apt to kick off the spring season with this review!
The pigmentation of these shadows is buttery, smooth and the payoff is excellent, best I’ve seen in a long time! Funny Girl and Rebel are two of my favourite shades. Overall, the colour range in the palette is amazing, with a perfect blend of matte and shimmer shades. The fact that this eye shadow palette has more mattes than shimmers is a huge selling point for me; I find that the looks end up being more versatile and suitable for everyday wear. If we’re going to spend money on a palette, I would want it to be as versatile in terms of shades and textures as this one! For me, the Tartlette in Bloom does not only that, but the neutral shade range makes this a palette that can be used all year round; it a real bang for your buck!
Flower Child is probably the only shade of the lot which takes some work to get a decent colour payoff, however I think it works best layered over deeper shadows to add a little bit of sparkle on top. The shadows do kick up a little bit of powder, however, they blend out beautifully, and the formulas themselves are incredibly smooth. The wear time on them is pretty good too; my eyelids are on the oilier side, but with a primer (I use Urban Decay) I find that these shadows last all day on me and then some.
In the few months that I have had this palette, it has become a staple in my collection. Its versatile shade range, buttery formulas and compact size means it’s easy to carry with me for travel and quick to use. The huge mirror is a huge bonus and the trim packaging means it can be stored away without taking up too much space. Something I was not expecting however, was the scent! It smelled somewhere between Too Faced’s Chocolate Bar and roasted marshmallows which makes this palette a sweet deal in my books!
The verdict? This is hands down my favourite palette of all time, followed by the Chocolate Bar palette from Too Faced. Its a neutral heaven with highly pigmented eyeshadows and a versatile amount of shades to allow you to create a number of unique looks. This is definitely one to add to your shopping bags folks!
