Jumping back on the Wagon, New Impressions and Old Favourites

Hello Blogosphere, long time no see! Now, I could come up with a whole hoard of excuses to explain why I’ve been AWOL for the past few months, but it all boils down to one simple little fact: Second Year Sucks. When graduate students told me last year that second year was the hardest time I’ll face in my entire degree, they weren’t kidding. It’s only thanks to numerous baths, chocolates and Netflix that I’ve stayed sane (so far!).

So here I am, jumping back on the wagon with more zeal in an effort to make my blog a stress-free zone and a place where I can come to take a break from Chaucer and Medieval English poetry (cry). Starting off with a review of two little gems that I’ve been loving a lot recently. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Urban Decay Primer Potion and the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (holly molly!).

The New Impression – Urban Decay Primer Potion:

I’ve never been much to always follow a hype, so you best believe me when I say this: DANG is this product worth the hype! While browsing the Urban Decay counter the other day, my eyes wandered over to the primer potions and just out of curiosity I thought I would give this little guy a try. I have really oily eyelids that seem to eat up eyeshadow for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Normally the concealer trick works pretty well, but even then I notice creasing after a few hours or so.

I did a test the day I got home and put the primer on one eye lid and left the other blank before going ham with the eyeshadow. The primer itself has a silicone like texture, which grips onto the lid and I set mine with powder before going in with eyeshadow to make sure they blended well.

After eight hours, the lid with the primer came out the victor. There was barely an creasing compared to my other eyelid and the colour was still as vibrant as when I first put it on. So this little miracle potion gets a huge hell yes from me!

The Old Favourite – Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil:

Ohhhhh where do I start. Me and this Lip Pencil have had a bit of a love affair since the day I bought it. Nars lip pencils have the BEST matte formula of any lipstick I have tried, hands down! Its creamy and comfortable on the lips, its long lasting and they have an amazing colour range. Walkyrie, a mid-tone pinky brown, is my favourite shade after Dragon Girl which is a deep red. It wears off really nicely, so after a long day you’re not left with awkward lines around your mouth. The formula has emollients in it, which makes for a creamy texture that doesn’t dry out your lips. You can use these to either line your lips or use it as a lipstick, which is what I do. To prove how much I love this hunk of a lipstick: I already have a backup waiting for me in my drawer 😉
