With the start of my second year at University looming and my to do list growing bigger day by day, I often find myself wondering where in the heck my time has gone! Whether you’re new to the blogosphere or whether you’re an old friend around these parts, you’ll know how much time and effort blogging takes.
I think that the more you enjoy it the easier it is to make time for, however, there are points where I find myself muddled up in lots of school work and a list of blog posts that I am yet to write. Balancing a blog with school, work, commitments and hobbies is hard work, you have to make the effort to keep up with each part.
But just because school is soon going to be kicking my butt, it doesn’t mean I want to hit the pause button on writing about whatever takes my fancy. So I penned down a few ideas that I’ve been working on in hopes that I would be able to both study and keep up with my blogging. I hope that there are some of you out there who might also find this useful 🙂
Pen to Paper:
Lightbulb moments dont come to me very often, but when they do, I think it’s so important to get it down in some way, shape or form. For people on the go, you can always write it down on your phone and save it for later. Personally, I like to type it out in my notes on my phone and then later when I am near my desk, transfer them to my planner. This way, when the time comes to put a post up, I am not stressed and running around like a headless chicken, trying to come up with post ideas.
Plan Plan Plan:
In a bid to save time, stress and tears I like to plan everything out in my planner and iCalendar, from assignments to meetings to blog posts. Planning everything out in advance helps to keep me organised and I know exactly how much time I need to plan, write and edit a post. Win-win and no tears. HUZZA!
I’ve gotta be honest, as much as I love blog photography, I kind of suck at it sometimes. It takes me yonks to get photos just right and dont even get me started on flat-lays; they’re definitely not as easy as they look! But sometimes it all comes together and I can even surprise myself with some pretty neat pictures. Taking your photos in advance and in bulk for different posts makes life sooooo much easier! All you’ve got left to do after is write up a post, drop some photos in and off you go!
Stock photography is an absolute god-send! Styled stock photos give your blog an oh-so-professional look while also saving your butt on days when you’ve got a post off and ready to go but no photos. There are tonnes of blogs and websites online which offer you free styled stock photos in return for credit, which is more than fair! Two of my favourite sites for stock photos are ‘Gold and Berry’ and ‘Ashley Creates Things’.
In the next few weeks I’ll be putting these ideas into practice and I hope that I can manage to keep on top of everything. If you have any tips for making blogging easier while having other commitments, then holler at your girl in the comments below! Happy Blogging!
