Hi everyone! As much as I just want to hit the sack on those late nights and as much as I would love to be forever lazy, I have come to realise the importance of taking care of my skin and making sure it’s hydrated and there aren’t left over flakes of mascara the next morning! But, don’t get too excited folks because my skin care routine isn’t as elaborate or pampering as most people’s. When it comes to taking off my makeup at night and cleansing my skin I use all of three products (coming at you in another post!) and I’ve come up with a well oiled system that hasn’t failed me in years. My skin care routine follows a similar path with carefully curated products that I have been using for a while now and things I know my skin loves.
My skin tends to on the more combination/oily side with a few dry patches peeking out over winter. When you’re choosing skin care products for yourself, make sure to research products that target your particular issues. My nighttime skin care routine is identical to my morning skin care routine which is why the number of products I use is rather small. Once I have cleansed my face and taken off all my makeup I take about two pumps of the Pure Natural Beauty Super Active Face Serum and massage that onto my face and neck. Enriched with Omega 3 and 6, I find that this serum really hydrates and plumps my skin and any texture issues that I am having are helped greatly through the use of this serum. It has a very milky consistency that sinks quickly into the skin, leaving it feeling refreshed. However, it does have a rather strong scent, so if you’re sensitive to scents then keep this in mind before getting this product.
Next I douse myself in Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum, which also makes me cry a little because of how expensive this little guy is! It is worth every penny though! I’ve used it for the past few months now and my skin is so smooth and all the texture issues I was suffering from seem to have disappeared. I recently did a blog post going into detail about this product so if you fancy a read click here —> Estée Lauder.
Since I have combination/oily skin I try my hardest to keep the grease-monkey at bay, while still retaining my skin’s glow. The product that comes in really handy is Clarins Hydra-Matte Lotion. The formula is super hydrating on my skin while leaving no residue behind, while also making sure that the oily ness is kept at bay. I tend to use this every morning before applying any makeup and then two to three times at night per week.
I have also been using a sample size of Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré. After hearing amazing things about this face cream from Stephanie Bradbury’s blog, I knew I had to have it. But given how sensitive my skin is, I was lucky enough to get a sample size to try out before I bought the full size product. And I have to say this gets a big thumbs up from me! The moisturizer is super creamy and with no fragrance to top it off! I’m sure as soon as I run out of this little sample I’ll be picking up a full size tube!
I’m not a big fan of oils since most of the time that I have tried one, it’s broken me out pretty bad. However, a trip to the Body Shop brought me to this little guy: The Tea Tree Oil. I CANNOT tell you how amazing this stuff is for any blemishes or spots and I have used this since the beginning of my blogging days (Tea Tree Treats). I normally tend to use this sparingly by putting some of the oil onto a cotton bud and gently dabbing it on the problem area. For my eyes I keep it simple with No.7’s Early Defence Eye Cream which gives so much moisture to my eye area and helps reduce the depth of my dark circles. All in all it’s one hell of a good product and one that’s never let me down!
For lips, I swear by Vaseline’s Sugar Coated Ltd Edition Lip Therapy. It’s so darn affordable and really nourishes my lips so they’re nice and plump the next morning. But cheeky as it is, I do have my eye on By Terry’s Baume de Rose that I’m itching to buy but its soooooo expensive (cue sad face). Maybe one day, eh?
I hope you liked this little run down on my skin care routine! Let me know if you’ve tried any of these products or if you have any recommendations for things I should try!
