The Nail Edit: OMBRÉ

My first year of University is over (where did the time go?!) and with a happy wave goodbye to exams, I am home for the bank holiday weekend! In the last two days I have realised two very important things: SLEEP is most certainly the best reward post exams, and secondly, how much I’d missed procrastinating without the accompanying guilt that we all face during exam season! And on that note I am bringing your way a simple, easy to do Red and Gold Ombré nail tutorial!

Now, I am no nail artist, but I am very, very prone to trying out a pinterest worthy design and then scrapping it two minutes later, because somehow my nails resemble a hot mess. So today I tried giving it another go and the result (surprisingly enough) was one that I am rather chuffed with.

What you’ll need:

A gold nail polish
A red nail polish
A makeup sponge wedge
Lots of q-tips and nail polish remover (to clean up afterwards)

You dont necessarily have to use these colours, just choose whatever tickles your fancy!

Now to begin with, prep the nail with two coats of the colour you want as your base coat and wait for it to dry enough so that it is no longer tacky! Then apply your two colours on one side of the wedge: I would recommend doing a couple of coats so that your colour pay off is completely opaque. Then all that’s left to do is dab, dab, dab away!

To finish off, take some q-tips dipped in nail polish remover and then clean up around the cuticles. Once thats done, you can marvel at your oh-so-pretty ombré nails! Told you it was easy 😉

  1. I did this with gold and silver. Although its a very messy job it looks amazing afterwards. Great colour combonation though, I never really thought red would go with gold – but I was wrong 🙂 xxx
