It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year: December Favourites

With another month nearly over, and Christmas day (or as I like to call it, presents and eat until you’re bursting day) done for another year, I thought it was time to give you a run through of some of my favourite things this holiday season! Something that hasn’t been a favourite this year, though, is how quickly time has flown by! I find it absolutely crazy how is 2016 just a few days away! So, without further ado, grab yourself a merry little cup of hot chocolate, or whatever strikes your fancy, and lets dig in…

H & M White Polo Neck:

In last month’s favourites I mentioned a burgundy jumpy from New Look that I thought was the coziest thing I’d ever worn. I was wrong. This gorgeous white turtle neck poncho-jumper blows every other jumper out of the park! While I was travelling in Europe at the beginning of the Christmas Holidays, I came across this beauty on my last night while wandering in and out of the Amsterdam shops. It took one glance and I knew I couldn’t not buy it and I have been wearing it every day since, more or less. A definite must if you’re a lover of cosy jumpers like me, and even better for Christmas Day when I knew that a food baby would most definitely be inevitable.

‘Clockwork Princess’ by Casandra Clare:

The third book in the Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare was an emotional roller coaster, to say the least. I have to say, if you haven’t already, you must give this trilogy a read, especially if you’re a lover of fantasy fiction like me. It was a welcome break from twentieth century american literature and renaissance plays that had taken up my time during my first term. Her on-the-egde-of-your-seat narrative style and heart-wrenching characters meant that I read this book not once but twice within the space of a week. I would heartily recommend you get your hands on a copy of the first book in the trilogy, Clockwork Angel, and believe me you won’t be disappointed.

‘Black Cherry’ by KIKO:

You know when you find that perfect piece of makeup that revolutionises your makeup routine? Well, I had such a moment as I walked into the new KIKO flagship store that had recently opened up in our shopping centre. Wandering up the lipstick counter with no real agenda I stopped in front of their new lip product launch stand and picked out a few tester tubes at random. And then, at last, my hand reached towards an unknown tube of dark amazingness, called ‘Black Cherry’ and with one swatch of it on the back of my hand, I knew that I had found the my-lips-but-better-colour. It’s not just that though; the formula of the these lipsticks are absolutely incredible, easy to apply and very moisturising. Its the one thing that I hope never runs out of stock or is ever discontinued. The single best thing I’ve ever added to my makeup bag, and it’s definitely something I would recommend to you to try out in the New Year.

‘The Imitation Game’:

The holidays are a time for friends and family, eating far too much and watching far too much TV. And in this case, my choice of TV was the movie ‘Imitation Game’, and I am not even a little bit ashamed to say that I watched it three times! Yes, THREE! It’s just that bloody good! Set during the Second World War, it recounts how the enigma code was finally broken. British cinematography at it’s best, you’d simply have to see it to believe why this movie was so good!

Paperchase 2016 Planner:

Now this is something that I received as a Christmas present this year, and it has quickly become a favourite already, and I haven’t even bug to use it yet! I love the fabric cover and the gold imprint of ‘2016’ on the front. With a page to a day, I think this planner is perfect if you, like me, plan everything in a diary. Big enough to write a multitude of notes and small enough to fit into any bag without taking up too much space, I know that I shall have to refrain from mentioning this little gem in every favourites post I write in the next year.

Ciaté Mini Nail Polish in ‘Pucker Up’:

I have been in love with this nail polish this month and with good reason! Sparkly and christmas in a bottle, the formula was an absolute dream to apply and l think the purple champagne undertones would suit a number of skin tones! This little number hasn’t left my nails all holiday!

The Holidays:

As comes with the territory of the Holiday season, Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. The food, the atmosphere, time spent with loved ones, buying presents, receiving presents, and of course, Christmas Day. I couldn’t have wished for a better christmas this year and spending time with people I love, relaxing and doing things I love, cooking amazing food and enjoying life.

And so, I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, and have had the most amazing Christmas and I wish you all a lovely holiday season ahead. I will see you all in the new year, which will hopefully be the best one yet! Happy New Year!
